Dear Randall - The St. Regis New York

Dear Randall,

I can't imagine a more perfect person to help clarify the handling of this situation.  I was a guest at the St. Regis New York on 55th and 5th.  As you know, the hotel is Elegant, features Butler service, and built in the era of the Astors and Rockefellers.   They do allow Pets, and I brought my two cocker spaniels with me for a weekend spree in NY.   Upon departure, one of my dogs had a minor accident on some carpeting in the hallway outside our hotel room door.   It was a plush floral carpet and within minutes, the stain had vanished.   Question for you Randall: a) should we have notified management that there was an accident or b) just left the premises with our head held high.  I am sorry to say, we did the latter.

Thank you,  Xavier from LA

Dear Xavier,

Thank you for your honesty.  These situations can be tricky when staying at the finest.  Although I understand it may have been uncomfortable for you, I would have recommended notifying your butler to ensure the matter was handled accordingly.

Sincerely.   Randall
